Since we started with Greek InterVarsity in 2011 God has done amazing things here in Michigan over the last 12 years.
By continuing to faithfully minister over a decade we have seen systemic changes to the Fraternity and Sorority life experience.
It is now common for new members to join Greek life with the intention of growing spiritually.
"I knew I could grow in my faith because there was a Bible study in this sorority."
You read that correctly...students are Going Greek in order to Grow in their Faith!
Over 2500 Greek students participated in our ministry across the different campuses since 2011. According to our best research, that is the highest amount of Fraternity and Sorority students who have engaged in faith activities over the course of the last 100 years in Michigan! I hope you experience the joy of the Holy Spirit that one of the darkest places on college campuses has been thoroughly filled with the light of Jesus due to your partnership and prayers!
While the pandemic did impact the ability to do our ministry, it also produced creativity and a dependence on the Spirit. The New Greek & Christian Podcast series was created, a new Greek IV Leader Phone App provides enhanced coaching and discipleship, and our Bible study kits have continued to be exactly what Gen Z students are needing. There is a desperation to know God and a desire to have the space to explore and deepen faith.
Yet, we simply cannot keep up with the interest!
At our brand new ministry at Michigan State University we had over 100 students wanting to be involved! We did not have the time or staffing capacity to follow up with 50 of them. Even in the final days of the semester, fraternity men at Central Michigan asked to be involved in the ministry next fall.
God has made it clear to us this year that there has never been greater interest and openness to the Gospel in these fraternities and sororities, and at the same time there is a need to reinvent how we best support and engage them.
